U2 is expected to give a free performance on "Top of the Rock" in New York City within the next hour or two. That's the name of the upper observation deck on top of NBC's headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Twitter user "Magz" was able to buy a ticket this afternoon to get up to the lower observation deck, where this photo was taken:
As you can see, lighting and staging is clearly being set up. Magz later tweeted that the Rutgers marching band was there, and guitar strings were being tuned.
The performance tonight is expected to be -- at least in part -- a rehearsal for the band's appearance on Monday's premiere of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. A number of U2.com members in the New York City area were invited yesterday to attend either Monday's premiere show or tonight's dress rehearsal. Fans who were selected for tonight's event were also made to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which makes you think the band's performance could be a little more than just a rehearsal for tomorrow.
