AMP Visual, the design team that's been working on U2's visuals since the band's beginning, recently found a box full of its 2003 book, Stealing Hearts At A Traveling Show: The Graphic Design of U2, and is currently offering a sweet deal for any interested buyers: Get the softback book for 29 Euros (postage included worldwide), it'll be signed by the team and the first 60 buyers also get a signed, hand-drawn postcard. Plus, all buyers will be given a chance to win a copy of U2 Wide Awake In Europe on vinyl. I don't know the exact number of books available, but it's not going to last forever, so you may want to hustle to get a copy of this long out-of-print book that our Kelly Eddington loved when she reviewed it many years ago.
UPDATE, Saturday morning November 17: We've received word from AMP Visual that response to the book sale has been fantastic and more than 60 books have now been sold: "The first 60 orders containing a signed hand-drawn postcard have been sold. However, due to demand, we'll do our best to draw some more, so perhaps 1 in 10 new orders will contain a postcard. Maybe you'll be lucky and get one!"
You have a second way to get the book, but you'll have to decide how lucky you think you are. (If you're not feeling lucky, better buy your copy now.)
AMP is sending three copies of the book to @U2 headquarters so that we can give them away for free to our readers! The holidays are coming up and we're in a giving mood, so we'll skip the super-tough trivia questions and make this as easy as possible.
@U2 Website Contest
To enter, send an email to email@example.com by 11:59 pm PT on November 23, 2012 with your name and full mailing/shipping address. Make sure to put "Book Contest" in the SUBJECT of your email. That's all you need to do. Easy-peasy.
One entry per household/residence. (Don't even try to enter multiple times. Anything that even remotely looks like contest stuffing/spamming will lead us to hit the "delete" button on all of your entries.)
@U2 will choose one lucky winner and send that person a copy of Stealing Hearts At A Traveling Show after we get the books from Dublin.
