Ever since U2's gear was recently seen being packed and loaded at HQ in Dublin and bound for New York City, rumors have been floating around that U2 were headed back to Electric Lady studio for more work on new songs. Those rumors seems to be confirmed by some recent tweets, photos and video shared by visitors to the studio.
For starters, there was superstar chef Mario Batali tweeting a photo of himself and The Edge last Friday night saying that they're at Electric Lady. In follow-up tweets to fans, Batali exclaimed "Wow! Brilliance!" and "Soulful!" when asked what the new songs sound like. He also said he doesn't think U2 is finished because "they're crazy perfectionists!" He also said that Danger Mouse was in the studio, too.
Then on Monday, the artist JR -- whom U2 worked with earlier this summer on that acoustic version of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" for the agit8 project -- posted an Instagram video of Bono and Edge harmonizing in French on what may or may not be one of U2's new songs.
JR later posted a still photo of Bono and Edge in the studio. No signs of Larry or Adam at the moment, but at least half the band is spending time in the studio these days.
(Our publishing platform doesn't like the Instagram embed code, so thanks to U2br.com for putting JR's video on YouTube.)
