You've heard the story before, but you haven't seen these photos nor heard this song.
In (or around) September 1985, Bono and Ali went to Ethiopia and spent about a month working at a camp in Ajibar where they used songs to teach kids about the benefits of eating healthy, cleanliness and other health-related things that we tend to take for granted in the West.
Gary Roebbelen was the World Vision staffer who was assigned as Bono's and Ali's host on their arrival in Ajibar, and he reached out to us recently to let us know that he's finally tackling a project that's been on his mind for 28 years: going through the slides and audio cassettes from his time working with Bono and Ali in Ajibar.
He let us know that the first result of this project is on YouTube for all to see ... and hear. It's a collage of images set to Bono and the campers singing "Ajibar" on an acoustic guitar, and a message from Bono at the end. Enjoy!
We're planning to have more to share from Gary in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
