Bono & Edge still planning to modernize Clarence Hotel

Bookmark and Share

It's been on hold for a couple years, but Bono and The Edge are once again working on plans to modernize The Clarence Hotel that they co-own (with other business partners) in the heart of Dublin.

According to The Herald, B&E and developer Paddy McKillen have filed new planning permission requests for a 150 million Euro project to expand the hotel. It would involve a "flying saucer-like" roof and a rooftop bar among other changes. Some local groups oppose the plans because it would involve "gutting a series of protected buildings" including the hotel itself.

Bono and The Edge bought the hotel in the early 1990s.
