Those previous reports are true: Bono will appear next month at a Dublin concert in honor of Aung San Suu Kyi.
The "Electric Burma" concert is scheduled for June 18th, the day after Suu Kyi accepts her 1991 Nobel Peace Prize. The concert will take place at 5:00 pm at the Bord Gais Energy Theater in Dublin. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday) via Ticketmaster. The event's official website lists Bono, Bob Geldof, Damien Rice, Angelique Kidjo and several others as appearing on the bill.
Bono had this to say in the Irish Times:
It's so rare to see grace trump military might and when it happens we should make the most joyful noise we can. Aung San Suu Kyi's grace and courage has tilted a wobbly world further in the direction of democracy. We all feel we know her, but it will be such a thrill to meet her in person. How honoured we are that she should consider Ireland for her first real trip from home.
It's not clear if Bono will perform, but he is due to present Suu Kyi with Amnesty International's Ambassador of Conscience award.
